St. Aubyn Arts & Social Science Library

Reproduction of Egyptian wall painting by Nina Davies, 1936, from the fine art collection

The books in this collection are housed in the St. Aubyn room on the first floor of the library.

It is named after Giles St. Aubyn, eminent historian, who has donated many of his own books to the Priaulx Library in the past decades.

Although not strictly speaking local studies, the arts and social science library attempts to provide a historical context for researchers and the collection includes books on costume, trade and textiles, archaeology and architecture, arts, crafts and music.  Also in the St. Aubyn Room is the Bob Burns Ceramics collection and a large collection of periodicals including Punch and the Gentleman’s Magazine.
