Index to the Sark registers

The church registers of Sark are notoriously chaotic and can be hard work for researchers, so we were delighted and very grateful to receive an index to them, long lacking, compiled by Alfred Ewen and A. R. de Carteret, and donated by the Société Sercquaise. The Index was originally presented to the Société Sercquaise by Mrs Allan R. de Carteret in memory of her husband. The index is bound and is available on request; the Library has copies of the registers themselves on microfilm.

The Library is also very grateful to have received copies of the indexes to the Sark censuses of 1901 and 1911, which will prove most useful to researchers.

Do you have books, photographs, or documents with a Guernsey connection that you would like to be looked after and made easily accessible to the public? Why not donate them to the Library? Find out how.
