Merchants and Traders of 1711
A list of the names of the merchants operating in Guernsey who voluntarily paid tax towards expenses incurred by members of a States' Deputation to the King, in 1711, with the amount of tax they paid reflecting their income.

[Act of the Royal Court.] 1711.
The 28th day of February, 1711, before the Lieut.-Bailiff, in the presence of Pierre Martin, Helier Bonamy, Thomas Fiot[t], Charles Andros, James Careye, Jean Andros, and Nicolas Tho[u]mes, Jurats.
Tax for Deputies' expenses.
Many of the principal merchants and traders subject to this Island Tax have appeared this day before the Court, which has assembled specifically to find the means of satisfying and paying a third of the expenses and expenditure to which recent Deputies2 have been exposed in respect of His Majesty. The Court, at the request of the said merchants and traders, has authorised and authorises the Constables and Douzeniers of St Peter Port to levy on the merchants and traders a tax of the sum of 2795 pounds 10 shillings and 6d, based on the sum of 183 pounds 16 shillings 11 d. ⅓ sterling, which is the third of the expenses and expenditure, and of two years 8 months’ worth of interest on the sum of 132 pounds 2 shillings and 8 pence owing to Mr William Le Marchant, as per the Act of the States of 13th July 1710, excepting the 18 months’ worth of deductions. And has ordered that a list or roll be compiled in which the names of those who paid their share voluntarily and without constraint should be entered and straight away registered at the Greffe immediately following this Act.

Le xxviije jour du mois de Février, Vingt mille sept cents et onze, devant Mr. le Lieut. Bailly, présents Messrs. Pierre Martin, Helier Bonamy, Thomas Fiot, Charles Andros, James Careye, Jean Andros, et Nicolas Thomes, Jurez.
Taxe pour les frais des Députés.
Plusieurs des principaulx marchants et negocians de cette Taxe de cette Isle ayant comparu ce jourd'huy devant la Cour assemblée exprès pour trouver les moiens de satisfaire & payer le tiers des fraix et depens qui ont été exposés par Messrs. les nagueres Députés des Etat vers sa Majesté. La Cour à la requeste des dits marchands & negocians a authorizé & authorize Messrs. les Conestables & Douzeniers de la paroisse de St. Pierre Port de lever sur les marchants & negocians une taxe de la somme de deux mil sept cents nonante et cinq livres dix sols 6d., provenus de la some de 183 livres 16 sh. 11 d. ⅓ sterling, qui est le tiers des fraix et dépens, et de deux ans 8 mois d'interests de la some de 132 livres 2 sh. 8 p. deus a Mr. William Le Marchant, come paroist par Acte des Estats du 13e Juillet 1710, sauf les dixhuit mois de rabatus et diminues. Et a ordonné qu'une liste ou rôle sera fait ou le nom de ceux qui payeront leur quote part librement et sans contrainte sera mis pour estre ensuite enregistré au Greffe immédiatement apres cet Acte.
Liste des Marchants & Négociants de cette Isle qui ont volontairement payé leur part de la Taxe mentionée dans l'Acte de l'autre part du xxviije Février 1711, qui a été mise au Greffe par Mr. William Le Marchant.
