L'Inconnu, 1814

Admiralty-office, Feb. 5. A Letter from Captain Shepheard, of the Fylla, announces his having captured the French lugger privateer L'Inconnu, of St. Maloes, of 180 tons; pierced for 20 guns, mounted 15, and had 109 men. Her second Captain and four men were killed, and four wounded. Lieut. W. H. Pearson, and W. Read, corporal of marines,were wounded on board the Fylla. [Gentleman's Magazine, No. 84.]

For sale by public Auction, on Wednesday next, April 6th, between 11 and 12 o'clock in the forenoon, on the South-Pier, the fast sailing lugger Privateer L'INCONNU, captured by, and condemned to his Majesty's ship, Fylla, William Sheppard, Esq., commander.

Length: 83 feet 0 inches; Breadth: 21 feet 0 inches; Depth: 8 feet 6 inches.

Admeasures 162 76-97 Tons, English measurement.

This fine Lugger is quite new, being only 5 months off the Stocks, and the largest of her class out of France; she is remarkably well found in Sails and Cordage of every kind, having been fitted out for a six month's cruize at great expence. And on Thursday, the 7th of April, at half past 10 o'clock, at Messrs Robert Cowan and Co.'s stores, at the Truchot, will be sold all the Warlike Stores, Provisions, &c., of the above vessel, consisting in the following articles, (unless both Vessel and Stores should be previously sold in one lot by private contract, of which timely notice would be given.)
